Kallis, Jacobs to play for IPL teams

Tuesday 23 August 2011

Proteas all-rounder Jacques Kallis and Warriors wicketkeeper Davy Jacobs will turn out for their Indian Premier League teams at the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India next month.
Kallis and Jacobs were two of eight players given an opportunity to choose which of their domestic teams they would like to represent at the tournament. All eight players opted for their “away” teams.
Kallis, who was contracted to the Warriors last season – he has since returned to the Cobras – will play for Kolkata in the global domestic tournament, and Jacobs will represent Mumbai.
“Players nominated by more than one team in the final squads were given 48 hours to advise us which team they would play for,” Champions League governing council member Dean Kino said in a statement on Monday.
“Teams were then permitted to replace any player that withdrew from their squad and elected to play for another side.”
South Africa will be represented at the tournament by last season's Standard Bank Pro20 champions, the Cobras, and runners-up the Warriors.
